After 7 months of cancer, Grandma/Gigi went home to be with Jesus Tuesday morning, April 6th. Mitch told Carson last night about Gigi and then Carson came out and told me that Gigi went to heaven to see "Jesus and Noah" :) We are so glad that we got a few "good" days with her when we took a quick trip to Colorado. Mitch and I are very thankful that we had a few years in Denver and really got a lot of great time with grandma! I worked in Greeley for part of our time there, so we both stayed with her a lot! It was so great to go see her and have meals with her! One of our favorites was her sloppy joes and potato chips!! Soooo good! We love making this recipe!
This, and the next few pictures, are from October 2008 when she stayed about a week with us, playing with Carson, before baby Austynn was born. What a special time!
Since we were in Denver nearly all of Carson's first year, Alma got to know him pretty well. You can tell they were having a neat time!
I LOVE this picture of grandma rocking Cars before his nap. Pretty cute! Grandma even watched Carson solo for a few hours while I went to get my OR driver's license. (I thought I had him in bed, but it turns out he didn't go to sleep, so Alma got him up and played with him :))
Here we are visiting CO - Austynn's first time meeting Gigi :)
Austynn and Carson stopping by with Mimi to see Gigi
This is a very cute picture of all the cousins with their grandma.
This post, however, would not be complete without this last story!! Two Fridays ago, my parents had the kids and Mitch and I were on a date (great!) to a neat little fondue restaurant. We had just finished our meal and ordered dessert when I realized I missed a couple calls on my phone and then I think we heard Mitch's phone ring. When Mitch saw that it was his grandma he answered it. He got the third degree from Alma!!! I guess Karen and Kendra were talking about what the sex of our baby was and Karen found out that Kendra knew and was going to call to give us a hard time. When she said she was going to call, grandma piped up and said "no, let me call". (Kendra told me grandma was kind of in and out of the conversation, but was really into it at this point :)) Grandma starts telling Mitch that "she has a bone to pick with him...and it is a BIG bone. .... how can he let someone in her state (Kendra said she said who could pass away tonight) not know the secret of the sex of our baby ... and she just kept going. :)-" Mitch was trying hard to find out who was in the room with her, since the speakerphone was on. He ended up saying he would call back and asked me if he could tell her. I said of course he could! So, he had it set for Karen and the rest to leave the room while he told grandma....however, something happened and they didn't really connect :( So, Mitch did let Karen in on the secret, so that Alma was able to know before she met Jesus. Alma was too funny on the phone. We got a huge kick out of it!! We will miss Alma and are so thankful for the time we had with her, and for what a fabulous grandma she was to Mitch!!

loved the post! Great tribute to Alma, with a lot of fiest still left in her to the end. Especially about the baby and all. Sounds like she was pretty determined. Thanks for posting all the great pictures. We will miss her dearly, but were all blessed for having her in our lives! Definitely one of the godliest ladies I have ever had the pleasure of knowing.
