A little get-away!

Last weekend Mitch and I used our Christmas gift from Lu and Karen and enjoyed a night at Callahan's Lodge, complete with dinner!! Oh, it was so nice to get away and have some time with just the two of us!
Well, I guess this picture proves there was more than just the 2 of us there! Just 8 1/2 weeks to go. We get to meet our baby on April 30th, unless baby decides to come before then.
However, Grandpa and Mimi ended up with the kids for a couple extra nights, as they were so kind to watch them while I went to San Francisco with Mitch for his meeting. We got up early on Sunday and got to SF a little before 1:00 pm, thinking we would have the day to play, walk, take pictures, and check stuff out. It was rainy and nasty out :( This crazy mist - you could use an umbrella to cover your head and it got the rest of your body wet. Weird. And, it was all foggy! Wouldn't you know that when we woke up on Monday morning, we had beautiful blue sky. Mitch took advantage and ran from the Wharf to the Golden Gate Bridge, while I enjoyed some rest. We decided, though, that instead of leaving and fighting rush hour traffic after his meeting at 4:30, that we would stay and enjoy what we wanted to the day before. On Mitch's run, he found this neat area that he thought would be good for pictures (we enjoy looking for spots and taking pictures). So, after I picked him up, we went to the water front and took most of the following pictures:
Alcatraz (funny, on Sunday, I looked out and thought this island was a large ship - I tried to show Mitch the huge ship out in the fog and he laughed! I even had my glasses on!)
This hummingbird was crazy! It just sat and posed for us. Usually they are so fast and don't stay anywhere for more than two seconds. So, it was fun shooting into the fading sun!
After we took some pictures on the water front, we came back to the wharf to explore some more and have dinner. Kind of fun!
Oh my!!! We went to Ghirardelli's to get a sundae on Sunday and decided to try a hot chocolate, as well. WOW! We stumbled across a caramel, sea salt hot chocolate - amazing! Very, very rich, though. We got one on our way out of SF for the ride home, but neither of us could get very far on our own - we should have shared a small :) We ended up staying until 9:00pm, and got into Medford at 3:00 am - nice! It took me until Friday to feel "normal" again.

Newport, Oregon

Saturday afternoon down on the beach - a bit chilly, but still fun, and no rain!
Proud grandparents :)
Fun playtime
I think this one is cute with little Austy walking by the big boys
The kids LOVE to be thrown in the air by dad!!! Lu got great pictures of it :)
After dinner Mitch took the kids swimming. Boy did they have fun. He had them both out there most of the time, as one didn't much like sitting on the sideline! Pretty cute :)
Grandpa and Mimi took Carson to the Aquarium when we headed for home. What fun!
Then he got to play a find-the-heart game :)
AND back down to the beach! Hope he slept well :)
The boys building sand castles
Great picture! It says: I love you, Dad, Mom, Austynn ~Carson
What special memories. Thanks for a fun trip!

Happy Valentine's Day!

We had a GREAT Valentine's day! It started off over in Newport (the OR coast) with Mitch's parents. They kept Carson last night, while we brought the little miss home with us. Austynn didn't have a real good night at the motel, so we were all tired! She napped on the way home and then Mitch took her shopping while I napped - yes!! He actually went to Old Navy and picked out the dress I was wearing (amazing - esp since I am pregnant!!) and a sweet pair of purple heels! Then he went and got our groceries. Including some amazing food from Market of Choice for our dinner (below). Feta and sundried tomato stuffed flank steak and pork roast, some greek salad, and asparagus! Then he made strawberry shortcake! What a man! Austynn got yogurt (she is loving feeding herself), raisins, milk, and a hotdog - poor girl! :)
As soon as Mitch sat down, Austynn wanted to feed him :) She was happy to be home and happy to have some sole attention, I think.
What a pair! Having a family is the most amazing thing ever!!
Here are the kids one evening last week. They were so hungry and I was making dinner. I put on some cartoons and gave them a bowl of green beans to share. They ate 1.5 cans of green beans!
Here they are after dinner. They love their play time with dad! Carson wants to ride on dad's back and Austynn is not about to be left out! This was a quick shot before they both fell off :)
I am sure I will have lots of neat coast pictures, off Lu's camera soon.
Happy Valentine's Day!

Our new fence and some cupcake fun

Some of you know what a challenge this fence was to get completed, but it got done! Yee-ha!! Nice work Mitchell :) Now we just need to landscape a bit. Always seems to be something, huh.
We had some fun and made cupcakes on Saturday - they didn't last long!
Austynn was enjoying the frosting :)
