Yummy Food and Fun Presents :)

The kids made place mats for everyone to use at the table. This was a real "brilliant" idea by me - ha! Carson wrote everyone's name - both kids decorated the papers and the place mats. It was suppose to be contact paper - decorations - wax paper on top. Well, the wax paper was a joke, so we had to put more contact paper on top. Needless to say, this took forever (and we started at 7pm -genius!). They were nothing close to perfection, but I still thought they were cute and special for the occasion.
Mitch totally did dinner!! He got this sweet rib recipe from his boss. Costco ribs, mesquite rub/marinated overnight, cooked in apple juice at low heat for 3 hours, covered with Jack Daniel's BBQ sauce every few minutes-turned-broiled. Yummy!! He also got some tasty wings from Costco! It was a feast!! Thanks babe, and thanks to all for bringing side dishes!
Corn and waffles were his 2 requests - we managed one :)

Carson enjoyed and ate really good. It was cute!
Austynn didn't want to hold the ribs, so Mimi helped her. Nana couldn't keep the pieces of wings on Paislee's tray - she is a good little eater!! (notice she is looking right at the camera!) Thanks to the grandmas for helping the kids during the meal! This, too, was a welcome relief ;)
Carson could hardly contain his excitement for the gifts. Goodness, he had been excited for at least a week. We kept telling him that he needs to be very grateful and that people do not have to bring gifts, that it is very nice of them to do so, etc, etc ;) Needless to say, he was very ready when we got to them. This is a super cute card that Uncle Timmy and Aunt Jackie made for him.
 Go Paislee Grace, Go!
Oh, Paislee - your bright, smiling face brings me such joy!
Our birthday girl! Big one year old.
Grandpa and Mimi got Carson a sweet remote control "Tow Mator". Carson was loving it! This baby was fast and it was quickly running into the table legs and walls. We were all laughing at daddy's reaction to this :)-
Great Grandpa and Grandma got the kids this neat foam ball/play-doh type stuff. It is pretty cool!
As you can see, the kids got some very nice things! Carson has been loving playing with his fancy new dump truck and front loader in the sand box!
Carson got this new tent and some fun camping items to go with it from Papa and Nana. Looks like they are ready for a camp out!
Playing some John Wayne style shoot 'em up games after their baths :)
Thanks so much to all for making the trip! We all sure enjoyed the party. Such special memories!

  1. Love the placemat idea! soo fun! I am sure the kids loved "helping" to decorate, too. And the presents! They look in "heaven." Funny...the spil you gave Cars on " be grateful, people don't have to bring presents, but they do. say thanks to everyone..." is the same spill we gave Sophie before her day. I guess its the inaugural "be grateful" speech. Always a good thing! Love, Stace
