Quick CO trip

We went back to Colorado to see Alma, Mitch's grandma, as it wasn't looking like she had very much time left. (She just found out that she had breast cancer that had spread to her spine - very painful!)
It was a quick trip, and we drove, so lots of driving! (Actually Mitch did 95% of the driving and drove both ways straight through - nice work to him! 22 hours each way!) We left on Tuesday at 5pm and got to Greeley about 4 the next afternoon (we were all ready to be there!). About Wednesday, grandma started to do a little better. She was moved to hospice and they did a great job with her pain and she was still mentally very clear, so she seemed like "grandma" to us when we saw her, which was a blessing!
When we got there, we quickly got showers and then headed to the hospital to see Alma. This is Austynn's first time meeting her great grandma! Thanks to Lu for taking all these pictures - I took my camera, but never got it out.

Grandma's sister, Aunt Harriet was in her room with her, too. They are pretty cute together and very funny! :)

I think this picture is very cute :)
Carson wasn't real sure about Gigi being in the hospital bed, but he eventually warmed up and gave Gigi kisses :)
Grandma was happy to see Cars! We changed him out of his PJs in Laramie (I think) when we stopped for lunch and we put on his swimming suit, since letting him go swimming was one of our bribes to keeping him good in the back seat all day long :) The kids both did very well.
Uncle Mike got there the night before...Austynn says hi!

Aunt Colette was very gracious and let us stay at her home. We had our 2 kids, to add to Shelley and Jenny's kids. We had 5 kids and our 2 dogs all staying there :) Here are all the kids playing.
(Yes, Mitch had us take our dogs...traveling circus we were!)
This is Jenny's son Ethan playing w Carson - Ethan is 6m younger, but they played together pretty well for the most part :)
This is Jenny's 3m old daughter, Emma. She was pretty cute and is at the age where she gives out sweet smiles, so it was fun to meet her!
Here is Missy with her card and flowers for grandma (grandma loved them!). She is holding Addison, Shelley's daughter.
Here is Addi after she enjoyed her lunch!
The kids playing outside
Aunt Colette picked some yummy tomatoes!
Austy loved the cheese sticks that Aunt Colette had!

  1. So glad you were able to see her while and that she was able to enjoy your visit, yes that is a blessing! It is hard to let go even when they are ready to go 'home' WHEW I am soooo thankful we know where HOME is!!!!

Hey can you measure Austynn's waist for me and her length from her waist to her knees? Thanks!
